Drive shaft to Jag rear end

I am finishing up a Contemporary kit and am having problems finding shoulder bolts to attach the drive shaft to the Jag rear end. Do I need shoulder bolts or will a standard grade 8 bolt work? Is there another type of bolt that I should be considering?

Thanks

Don

Call up Bolt Depot www.boltdepot.com or one of the other hardware suppliers. They should have them. You might also try a local driveline shop, especially one that does 4X4's as they will have the heavy duty stuff.

ERA still uses a Jag rear, they have the correct bolts. I think they were $14.00.

Grade 8 bolts and Jet nuts or K nuts, available from ARP. The nuts don't need lock washers and stay in place.

Don, I went through this about a year ago when I lost two of the bolts from my driveshaft in my Unique (Jag IRS). I was told (rightfully so) to purchase fine thread 3/8 x 1.75" Grade 8s (as this provided the correct shank) and cut them to length. I also had a leaking end shaft seal in my Toploader, so I bought the bolts prior to heading to Vintage Mustang where my transmission was originally sourced. The two existing bolts that were removed were all- thread and consequently allowed slop in the fastener probably contributing to the fact that two were gone. The mechanic did the cut and fit and also had to trim some of the flat washers on the yoke side as it was too curvy to allow the washer to sit flat. I was told to use flats on both sides and a nyloc locking nut. Still looking good.
