Hey Jerry,
You bring up another good point but I was allowed to retain firewall mounted xducer because the engine setback places flywheel behind that surface or the firewall. This is not to say OK on other manufacturers or even some other tech inspection for that matter.
The main thing is to build with thoughts of overall safety. Some are very basic or common sense things. Let me back up on the common sense remark as not the best wording (common if around racing and exposed to these things before) is better. Many bought their car or contracted different build stages so inherited some things and if not a gear head by birth then less obvious.
A tech inspection at a local track would be educational to many including some around cars for years but maybe not race cars. If not a race car you could choose the items that just make sense for you but all issues found would need to be changed before a track day.
One common thing I see that should be changed always is a glass body on a fuel filter. Never use those glass tubes with a filter inside as they are a big potential for trouble. I know the Ford/GM and so on used glass sight bowls for years but stopped for fire reasons. Another thing I cringe at is plastic oil pressure lines going to dash oil pressure gage so replace with copper tubing. If plastic breaks it sprays you with maybe 220 to 260 degree oil all over your legs.... replace it. I also think all Toys should have a battery disconnect switch, on main cable not just 1/2 the circuits or after the fuse block. How bout a fire extinguisher or 2 even if not chrome hide it in the trunk!
I will move my soap box to its own thread (Safety items overlooked) and am sure manny of you have things we should all at least decide yes or no for my car needs. If not born with a wrench in your hand then maybe some are easy to overlook.

I mounted the coil under the dash and ran the wire thru the firewall.Bulkhead connectors are a problem waiting to happen.

Jerry,my Z is SCCA certified with the fuel line running up the trans tunnel. And when you get down to it,you can't go from the back of the car to the front without bein"inline" with the clutch/F-wheel.
