Fuel line bead
Is there a simple way to bead a fuel line, without buying a beading tool?
Tool runs about $30 plus shipping - Not something you use all the time and to make just a couple beads, I thought I'd ask. Do I plunk down the $$$ or is there a way to get a bead? Just a flare at the end of the tube isn't very professional. ??? Paul |

Use these, I got mine from Summit.
"Fitting, -6 AN Female to 3/8 in. Tube, Aluminum, Red/Blue, Each Attachment 12506 A little tip is to put some gasket maker (just a very small dab) on the outside end of the tub and this will almost ensure a perfect seal. You can use the same stuff you used for the gas tank assembly. Otherwise I found these tend to leak a bit with out it (3 of my 4 did without the little dab). Overall, much easier than a flaring tool and fittings. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=RUS%2D639200& amp;N=700+115&autoview=sku The right fittings for the job. Looking for the right adapters to use with aluminum fuel line? Then look no further than these adapters from Russell. Designed to connect aluminum tubing to -6 or -8 AN adapters, their unique crimp design eliminates the need to flare the tube, thus saving you precious time. They're available with both male and female ends for 3/8 in. or 1/2 in. diameter tubing. " |
What type of fuel tubing are you using? Aluminum, stainless? Are you putting a rubber hose onto a metal tube with a hose clamp?? If you are attempting to prevent a hose from coming off, it can be done with a simple slight flair on the end of the tube, or a ferrulle (sp?) could be slipped on the tube and soldered in place. I have done both successfully.

The rest of my lines are flared with tube nuts and they seal great. Not difficult to do either. Cheers |
How about a B-Nut instead?

Tube sleeve (ferrule?) and associated nut slid over the tubing. Then flare the tubing... I am sure you have seen them.
