I definitely have a nut in there. I can see it moving around on the end of the bolt. I don't have equipment nor expertise in welding - I wish I did. I've been so tied up with trying to get this thing assembled that I never got to the caliper measurements - my bad. Once I get through this "crisis" I'll try to get reassembled enough to get a measurement. Thanks! Doug |
If I understand what you have said correctly, I suggest drilling two 3/16 inch holes close to where the bolt comes out. These hole should be close enough to you original hole to almost touch them. Then pull the bolt with nut attached as tight as you can and aligne it as best you can and use the new holes to tac weld the nut back in place. Just a sugestion.

OK...You said the nut is about 10" away. Can you get a wrench on it and tighten the bolt enough to hold it in place, then have a friend come over with a stick welder and tack either side of the nut up inside from where you can see it? Even a portable welding service shouldn't charge you much to come out and put one little "BZZZZZZTT" on each side of the nut.
Might as well do the same thing to every nut you can see while you're in there. As an alternative, you could stick a wrench up in there, back the bolt out of the nut, then have somebody weld some "wings" on the nut or something else to keep it from turning, then replace the nut on the bolt. You'll get it... Lowell |
BKOZLOW beat me to it. I did just as he said. You should be good to go.
I had a nut break its weld in the box frame while inserting a bolt. I used two magnet to get and hold the nut. I then drill three 1/4" hole and tack welded the bolt. |
