Flat Spots - Park on carpet?

Question:

Does parking on small pads of carpet help reduce flat spots when using bias ply tires? I see that Lynn Park parks on carpet remnants, would that be the reasoning?

Yes, driving 3-4 miles does eliminate the flat spot. Might be nice to reduce that a bit thus the question.

Thanks,
Jeff

The carpet won't have much affect. I park on carpet to help with fluid leakage and when working on the car. The carpet keeps that little screw or nut from bouncing to places unknown in the garage, it usually sticks in the pile making for an easy recovery.

Is that why they have quick jacks on these things?

All you have to do is drive the car everyday. Problem solved. :)

Store it on jackstands. It will keep the tires from flat spotting.

If it sits for long periods and you have enough room in your garage just go out and move it a few feet every day or so. Or jack the wheels up and turn them.

Ron  :)

Flat Spot Resolution

Jack up each corner with little Honda Accord jacks. About $5 each at your local wrecking yard. Usually unused and in perfect shape.

Ok guys:

A little history....
I do drive the car and jacking is usually exclusive for winter storage. The Goodyear Billboards will flat spot overnight. No big deal, it would be nice to minimize the issue. I was looking to reduce my 3-4 mile drive to remove flat spots to maybe 1-2? Just thought that there may be some old tricks I am not aware of.

Storage on stands = winter procedure
3-4 miles of driving to work out = suffer through it?

Thanks for the input!
Jeff

I used to park my motorcycle on carpet and it did take care of the problem, but when I did this with the Cobra I couldn't see the television.:)

Who needs a television when you can stare at the Cobra?
