Clutch issues
 
I have a 351W, King Cobra clutch-pressure plate & throwout, Ford Motorsports Bellhousing & a T5 trans. I am running the cable clutch assy. The Cobra is not running yet but after hooking everything up and pressing the clutch pedel I feel pressure like the pressure plate in being pressed (more or less) but it feels more like if everything is not moving but the cable is stretching. Kind of like if you put a cheeter bar on a wrench that is on a tight bolt and if you keep pulling the bar bends. That is the feel that I get. I have to run the adjuster on the clutch cable about 3/4 the way up the threaded part to get the play out of the clutch pedal. Could this be because the throwout bearing is too short and I am not getting enough throw on the clutch pedel? The clutch pedel feels the same way all of the way to the floor. I hope that I have not confused everybody. I almost confused myself just writing this.

Have someone try and push the car while you push down on the pedal assuming that you have the car that complete.

The driveline is not in it yet. I need to have it shortened by about 1". The clutch arm coming out of the bellhousing moves about 2" when I press on the clutch pedal.

I stuck the driveline in the end of the trans and with the trans not in gear the driveline spins. With the trans in gear the driveline does not spin. When the trans is in gear and I depress the clutch pedal the driveline still will not spin. The clutch is not engaging and there is only about an inch of adjustment left. Are there different length's throwout bearings for the T-5? What do you guys think about the hydrolic (however you spell it) throwout bearings.

Terry go with a liitle more adjustment and see it the driveshaft moves while in gear with the pedal down. It sounds like you are in the ballpark. My clutch fork only has about 2" of travel from what I remember while going through this.

I'll give that a try. There is no more freeplay in the clutch pedal though. I am concerned about burning out the throwout bearing. It is not ment to spin all of the time.
