Paint a Stripe after the fact???
Hi Everyone -
has anyone ever heard of painting a the dual stripe after a car has been painted? Reason I ask is I am looking at a used ERA with a stunning solid paint job, but has my heart set on having the dual stripes. I wasnt sure if this is even possible as all I have read on the subject is the stripe is usually painted first after primer and then masked off. Any thoughts or experiences with this? If any one has seen this done was it a quality job?

I have seen it many times,unless you are looking for it you will not see the difference.

Cobra Dudes,
The body work is complete….should I paint it up now or wait till I’ve almost completed my build? If I paint it now….I could scratch it up(two kids also)….my question is.....how hard is it to paint with 90% assembled? It seems like most people paint their cars first…then assemble.
Also…..what are most people doing for painting the inside of the wheel wells? tx mike

I painted mine and then assembeled it, no scratches. The reason was so there is no overspray on all the detail items, no matter how good you tape the car the clear finds its way in. I painted the hood, trunk and doors off the car and put them on after as much of the car was assembeled as possible.

I'm going to do the underside of my body in lizard skin. Should be a good sound deadener and protect a little against rocks.
Anybody painted satin or matte stripes? Do you just spray the matte color over the clear?
