Tire valve stem threads /
The tire valve stem threads are some not ordinary thread . What are they? I'm working with those threads and would like to purchase a tap and die to adjust ,chase, repair, what ever. The normal valve core tool fits over the male threads but verry loosely, it doesn't alter them at all.

google Schrader valves
They are an old design… The standard Schrader valve has the following thread: External Thread METRIC: 7.7 mm OD, thread root diameter is 6.9mm x 0.794 mm pitch. IMPERIAL: 0.305" OD, thread root diameter 0.302" x 32 tpi (threads per inch) Internal Thread (the valve core) METRIC: 5.30mm OD x 0.706mm pitch IMPERIAL: 0.209" OD x 36 tpi. |
That's great , But where can a person get a tap to clean up a inflation tool intended to screw onto a normal Shrader valve stem. I have an infltion tool that comes with a pair of quick disconnects (one normal Shrader and another large end for heavey equipment tires). The normal procedure is to screw the connection onto the tire valve stem , connect the length of hose with theinflator valve and presure gauge and then connect to an compressed air source. It lets you inflate the tire form a slight distance in the event of a failure. I understand it's an OSHA approverd inflation system. The male Shrader stem on the CTIS tires at work will not let the inflation connection screw onto it without forcing it to reshape the stem's threads. The stems maybe a bit over sized but they are all this way. And I have allready broken a stem off in my inflator connection and need to remove the brass from it's threads. So I want to purchase a male tap for the female threads in the inflator and even a die to actually cut new theads on the male stems .
