IRS for my beauty!
OK. New to this club, so try not to laugh at my ignorance.
I have become the owner of a 427 SC by RU Car Crafters out of OK. The owner seems to be having difficulties with talking to customers, so I thought I would try this forum. I want to replace the 96 Mustang solid rear axle with an IRS unit. Need help, advice, parts to buy, things to modify, etc. Anyone know about doing this? Thanks in advance, Bob Vaughan, CLovis, CA pasnbyu |
Not familiar with the chassis on the RUCC cars, but if the car is not setup for the IRS units, then you should look for a chassis shop or any shop that makes race cars. The big thing is measuring to make sure the IRS will fit and clear during movement, then making brackets etc to support it. From there, a driveshaft shop can make the driveshaft you need.

Rucc Irs
I can send you pictures of the IRS that is used on the RUCC cars if it will help.
I think I have either the 2nd or 3rd cars that Roger put the IRS in. It needed to be strengthened to prevent twist, I've already done this. It uses an 8.8" Supercoupe IRS. I haven't been able to get ahold of Roger in quite some time. Don't know what happened. |
