Clutch pedal stop?
Anyone using a clutch pedal stop? It seems like there should be one to avoid overuse & wear on the valve in the master. I would much rather the pedal stop from a stationary stop than the valve bottoming out! Probably could rig somethng & attach it to the lower mounting nut & bolt.

Am in the process of building a pedal stop now. My clutch would not disengage and just changed from a 3/4" tilton MC to a 1". Was worried about the bearing going in too far. Got lucky, the clutch works perfectly, but am still going to rig up a pedal stop. Don't know about the wear issue. Have only put a few miles since the change.
The pedal is very stiff. Might go down to to 7/8" or 15/16" if my leg gets too big.

pedal stop from a suspension bumper
I used a polyurethane " bump stop" on the foot box wall. (This one made by EnergySuspension). Use washers on both sides of the foot box to spread the load on the fiberglass face.
There is a hole about 1.5 inch deep on the top of the bump stop. Insert a bolt about 5/16? just big enought so it threads into the hole. Think I started with one about 4 inches long, you can always trim it if its too long.
After you figure out how far the pedal goes to get the clutch to release, mark the bolt and add some nuts/washers or whatever to space it out from the top of the poly bump stop.
You can add/remove shims to get just enough through.
Really need to keep the hydraulic throw-out from overextending.
Pete

Should be. I am going to build a bracket to bolt onto the MC. The two bolt holes will be slotted so I can loosen the MC and slide the mounting side of the bracket on between the bolts and the MC. Then, I will take a half moon out of the stop side of the bracket so the rod can move through back and forth. The stop side of the bracket controls the throw of the rod when the the pedal bumps up on it. In my case, it will be about 1" off the MC and that is the point where the clutch disengages.
I will post a pic when I get it done. But, since it works so nice, it will be a little while. I have only made a cardboard pattern at this point.

Clutch stop
BigRob,
I use alot of hydraulic throwout bearings. I use the fire wall for the stop, remember our clutch levers are adjustable.

Hey bigrob, your car should have a tab welded on the clutch pedal, simply put a fully threaded bolt with 2 nuts one on each side of the pedal.Adjust the bolt against the fire wall with enough travel to release clutch.
