9" Rear trouble
What would cause my Ford 9" rearend not be able to turn backwards? You can easily roll the car forward. I thought it was something to do with the brakes, so I took off both calipers and rotors and just bolted the wheels to the axles. Still won't turn backwards. It will back up with the engine running but it feels like it is pulling a 4000 lb. trailer. Please help. thanks

I haven't ever had that problem. To eliminate wheather it is the rearend or the transmission you might want to drop the drive shaft and see if you can then turn your wheels backwards.
Keep us informed as to what the problem is. Clois Harlan |
9" rearend trouble
OK you are not going to believe this one. I dropped the driveshaft and the rearend was fine. Narrowed the problem down to the C6 transmission. Seems the intermediate band was adjusted too tight. I loosened the locknut and readjusted the band and everything works fine.
