Got Gas?
Sorry, couldn't resist the title.
Well, my Cobra has been sitting in the garage for about 8 months. It ran fine back then but now it won't start...the fuel pump works fine and delivers gas TO the carb but I don't get any gas IN the carb...not sure why. A buddy told me that the needles might be stuck...but again, I don't know much about carbs. Any ideas? Thanks, Tom |
sounds like your floats may be 'stuck'. You just need to take the carb apart and check. This shouldn't be a big issue, you should be able to solve whatever it is by a quick disassembly of the carb basics...simple 'sticking' issue since you haven't used it for a while.

I tried taking the carb apart...I loosened the 4 screws for the fuel bowl to get to the floats but it wouldn't come off. I didn't want to break anything (got a long history doing that) so I put the screws right back in.
How do I get the fuel bowls off? Also, is there a gasket between the fuel bowl and the carb body? And once I get it off what do I do with the floats? Just wiggle them?? :) Thanks again! Tom |
Try tapping side of carb with wood hammer or something similiar and just maybe you will get lucky and free the float.. probably the carb is gummed up
