Cobra Brakes -Pedal Feel
What size and type brake system do you have?
How is the pedal "feel".? How is the performance? Make any changes to increase performance/feel? Thanks for the feedback. Bret. |
Wilwood pedal assembly, balance beam type, 2 master cylinders, front and rear.
When I first got the car the brakes were terrible, almost afraid to drive it. After I got the front & rear master cylinder piston sizes right, the balance beam adjusted correctly and I put a set of Wilwood 12.19", 4 piston front brakes in place of the 11" Exploder brakes it stopped as well as it goes.. Vacuum assist?

I have a Tilton Racing floor mounted pedal set with dual MC's, balance bar and no assist. Fronts are 11" Grenada rotors and Wilwood 4 piston calipers, rears are 11" Explorer. I use the Porterfield R4S carbon kevlar pads. Pedal is nice and hard.

Thanks Roscoe,
How does the pad compound work for you on the street? I'm looking for a optimal combination of high-performance street and light track. |
They are the best pads I've ever used. Very grabby, rotor friendly and do not throw dust. I've also open tracked the car a couple of times. They are made for street and track/autocross.
From Porterfield http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/pads.html R4-S High Performance Street and Autocross For high performance and heavy-duty street conditions. Perfect for prolonged everyday street use while also being capable of tolerating the most severe street use without any fade. Rotor friendly of course. The R4-S friction level will give you an impressive increase in stopping ability with very minimum pedal effort. R4-S compound has the absolute lowest noise and dust levels, far below OEM equipment or any other high performance brake material. Good for autocrossing, some drivers' schools, and rallies. The R4-S compound is available for virtually any vehicle sold in the US. We also offer the R4-S in pad sizes for competition type calipers that are used under street driven conditions. Roscoe |
SOLD !
(Thanks Roscoe) |
