Kwik Lift Modification??
Anyone out there using a Kwik Lift modifyed it to a shorter length to more appropriatley fit the Cobra wheelbase?? It just sticks out sooo far behind the car I was wondering if anyone had done this and if so what concequences were suffered?? Thanks in advance for any info........

Earl,
I have one and I left it the length it is because I like to use it with my other cars. I just backed the Cobra a little farther back on it and that makes it easier to jack up the front end. The farther back you get on it, the easier it is to get the jack under the lift bar and the easier it will raise up to get the front legs down. I used chrome tape to mark mine as to where I wanted the wheels as I always backed on and if I went to the back stops, the rear end hung over to far for me to open my garage cabinet doors. Ron :) |
The shorter you go, the steeper the angle to drive up on it, could be a problem...

Yea Ron, I thought about that.....thats why I was thinking about just drilling some new holes where the two sections of ramp bolt together, that way I could pull it back out to a longer length if needed......
Yea Dan, I thought about that problem, thats why I was wondering if anyone had done it yet and had maybe run into that problem....... |
Earl,
You will have to check the height of your car front and back if you do shorten them. The end yo drive on may clear but the other end may drag. And you may also have to do what I did and get some of that material they stick on boats to walk on as the tires tend to want to spin if there is any dampness at all on them. That powder coat finish is slick. Ron :) |
