Exhaust Gas Temps

Has anyone used an Infared Gun as a means of monitoring EGT's and header temps as a tuning aid? I recently purchased one and used it today for the first time today. Before doing so I checked the timing and adjusted it to 14 degrees at 900 RPM, giving 36 total by 2400 rpm. My observation was 6 of 8 cylinders betwen 385 degree and 410 degree range, 2 cylinders were in the mid 260 degree range (???) This was measured about 1 1/2" from cylinder head at idle after a thourough warm up. How can this be interpreted?? Running 48 IDA's, which are rich at idle.

Two of the Weber throats are running lean for some reason. Something in the fuel metering for those two holes is different. Maybe air leaks below the throttle blades?

I would think that the two 'cooler' cyls are rich @ idle. When doing pyro temps on dyno & boats @ full throttle going leaner means higher temps until you get too lean then temps drop away again, followed closely by the pistons etc:CRY: if you do not get off the throttle quick.
