Superformance 402R Headers and Sidepipes info. for install on a Midstates Cobra
 
Hello. has anyone tried to Install Superformance 402R (Small Block) Headers and Sidepipes on a Midstates Cobra. I have a Midstates car with a 302 and AFR 185 heads and need some new sidepipes and headers. From what I've read, Superformance offers a header for the AFR heads and I would like to make this work on a midstates car. Could anyone with a Superformance and a 302/351/402 take some measurements for me? Any other Idea's are appreciated.

I beleive that SPF has/had at least two different small, 302 based vs. 351 based, block headers.
I have a 331 with AFR 185's and am willing to take some measurements for you but I think that you might want measurements from a 351 based car.

You would be better off having a set of custom headers made. You would also most likely gain some H.P. at the same time.

Interesting, I did not know that they had more than one header that lined up with the AFR heads.... Hmmm, well I have a 302 which would be the same block as you are using for the 331 isn't that correct? The measurement that I think would be the most critical would be the front to rear measurement of where the header connects to the side pipes at the flange. I guess we would also compare where the motor mounts are in relation to this to determine where the flange would end up. I am also concerned about the header clearing the foot box. Do you have any under the hood pictures of your setup.

To some extent I agree, but I am not aware of anyone in my area that makes headers. I don't feel comfortable with someone building the headers without having the car, because I am pretty particular about where the side pipes are going to end up. Any Idea's?

There is a guy on this site that races mustangs that lives in your area. His name on the site is David Gagnard. He may be some help to you for someone that can help or build headers.

I will take the measurements either this evening or Sunday evening...depending on my travel schedule.
I am confident that there were at least two different SPF small block headers.
