Exhaust Probe for my LM1
I have an LM1 that I have used to try and dial my webers in with. It has the exhaust clamp on it but I personally think that the clamp is not a suitable solution with side pipes for a couple of reasons. One is that the car likes to blow the sensor out of the pipe and two I think it is not accurate because fresh air can get sucked back into it. Has anyone seen an exhaust probe that will accept the O2 sensor or for that matter a design of one I could make?

Picture Data Page Lengthening the inlet pipe should resolve the problem of fresh air getting sucked into the sensor pipe. The purpose is to get the sensor into the exhaust stream while the exterior of the O2 sensor is in fresh air (it needs to breathe) I've seen one at the recent PRI show and should be pretty easy to clone Paul |
If you have your own LM1 and want to use it to tune YOUR car and webbers---weld the bungs into the collectors and do it right

Your LM1 should come with a wide band O2 sensor. You can get a weld on bung hole here : )

I tried the exhaust clamp on mine, and it doesn't work. It worked fine on my wifes Escalade.
I welded the bungs in my pipes in the collector. Works well. The Innovate ones use allen screws that sit flush with the bung. Use the Innovate bungs. I bought another type that I returned since they were to heavy and had a big bolt sticking out. My pipes are coated silver. I just touched up the pipes with 1200 deg silver paint afterwards. It's down where you can't even see. Scott |
I may just do that.. there is an exhaust shop next to the upholstery shop I am going to tomorrow. Ill have to see what he will charge me to weld them in.

They will have to take the side pipes off. So you will probably need new flange gaskets. Make sure they get the right angle. My left one was fine, the right one once I put the O2 sensor in is only a 1/4" or so from the body since the angle was off a bit.:eek:
