How do they sell them so cheap?

I had occasion today to diagnose and repair a non operative pair of cooling fans on a 91 Ferrari Testarosa. A friend has owned this car for about 3 or 4 years but know absolutely nothing about how to work on it, he is just gets bent over like most others that own these over priced Fiats. Shops that specialize in thes cars have the "balls" to charge $300-$350 for an Oil Change. Granted it takes 2 "Ferrari" filters and 12 quarts of Redline Synthetic. This makes our soap box racers look like bargains doesn't it?
If you think I'm exagerating, form your own opinion:

Or if you have a 348 model ....you can choose to "Buy it Now" for a real good deal (?) (Just stand with legs straight and touch your toes)

I had two Pantera's over the years, one I bought from a doctor who was tired of shifting and the other I bought wrecked. While being repaired in Buckhead, a suburb of Atlanta, a fella ask if I would be interested in some kind of trade for a dino, it looked kinda nice, but the four cylinder didn't have much appeal. Besides, I probably couldn't afford the dino parts. 351C parts!, no problem.

Its all buried in what an owner expects to pay for a part or service.

I broke my windshield on a Lincoln Town Car about 10 years ago. My insurance covered it, but my friend who owns a glass shop showed me something.

If you were not covered by insurance and had to pay for it, the windshield was somewhere around $400. Hey, you drive a Lincoln. Bend over and open your wallet.

Of course, you could order the exact same windshield from the same company by ordering the windshield for the full size Ford offering (Galaxie, LTD, what ever it was) and the price was around $175.

Less than 1/2 price for the same item thru the same supplier.

Not 10 years ago for a windshield.

that was one of my frustrations when I had my Mark VIII... the rear window & trim were one-piece... so when the rubber trim started to ripple badly, the only solution was to replace the whole assembly. Not the cheapest car to maintain... the neon taillamp, the xenon headlights, the air-ride suspension, the electrochromic mirrors, yada yada yada. Nevertheless, it was an awesome car... nothing better for a cross-country romp... fast, comfortable, quiet, & reasonably economical. I got 26 mpg cross-country with the cruise set on 80... Neat car too... I had a Spring Feature Edition (1 of 117). My dad's still mad at me for selling it... Only had 29k on it when sold.

Don't back up a Lincoln Navigator where it doesn't belong with the rear window open. That's a $1,200-$1,400 mistake. I learned the hard way...

The little BMW windshield with the rain sensor I understand to be in the $3,000.00 range. Makes those others seem like a deal. Don't break your windows.
