Air Compressor Hose & Reel's ?

I'm up dating my garage and one of the products I'm needing is a new Air Compressor Hose & Reel. I want quality but not a over priced unit. I would say under $125. I've seen several under $100 and here are a few and would appreciate any advise.

I only have a single stall garage and plan on mounting this on the ceiling to save on space. Only need 50'.

Is a swivel mount something I should look for ?

I want HD rubber hose not pvc, with a great quality easy to use spring loaded retractor and rollers.

Here is a air line kit. My system is old iron pipe and I'm wanting to replace it also. Either this plastic type, copper or high pressure pvc.

I prefer 1/2" hose for better flow vs the 3/8 most sell. The Northern 1/2" version on the page you linked is likely the same unit I bought from Harbor Freight (looks identical). Surprisingly nice quality for HF. I'd recommend it.

Harbor sells a swivel adaptor to swivel the whole unit from the ceiling.

I used plain old schedule 40 PVC in the walls.

I have had a Coxreels in my garage for about 20 years. It has been flawless. I have a Rapidreel crank on the wall of my shop with100' of polyurethane 1/4" hose that I love. I'm not sure that you need 1/2" (of course I don't think you need 400+ HP either). You pay a huge premium for a high quality retracting unit which is probably a luxury for most of us. It's hard to get a lot of hose on them also. You'd be surprised how handy a 100' hose is,e.g. to reach a car out in the driveway. The 1/4" poly hose has a small OD so it fits on a lot of reels altho it might not take a hard pull on a retractible. This is one of those products I would avoid in plastic or from China. The rotating joint needs to be high quality.

Griot's Garage always has good quality. I found this one. The rewinder goes back and forth, the reel swivels 180° side to side, has a 90° hose fitting that stores flat against a wall and is portable. I wish the hose was rubber, not pvc.
$100

While I like Richard and he has featured one of my cars in his magazine and while he has some extremely high quality tools I wouldn't assume that just because it is in his catalog it's good. I'll bet any retractible under about $150 is from China-take your chances.
