One Wire Alternator Question????
http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/u...onewirealt.jpg
This is a picture of the back of my alternator. The lug toward the top of the picture is for the altenator positive wire and the lug toward the bottom of the picture is for a grounding wire, Correct?????????
Boy, I'll be glad when this wiring is over and maybe then I'll quit SECOND GUESSING myself:(:(:(:(:(:(:(**)**)**)**)**)**)**):LOL ::LOL:

Earl, the top insolated stud is definitely for the battery wire. If the bottom lug shows continuity to the alternator housing, then it's a ground terminal. I just replaced my one-wire alternator yesterday. Mine doesn't use a ground wire. A "one-wire" is typically just that.

Hook up a wire to the lug with the red plastic and you are done. It is already grounded through the housing with your mounting brackets. No need for any other wires.

Some installations use rubber suspended/encapsulated bushings for mounting the alternator to reduce NHV. I applications like that the bottom bolt offers another option for proper grounding.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, thanks for the responses, makes sense now. I went ahead and ran one of those 4 gage pre assembled negative battery type cables from the frame to the lower lug. Like my wife says I tend to "OVER" engineer or "OVERKILL" things**)**)**)**)**)**)**)**)
