How much did I add to the capacity??
OK, Here's a question for the math experts out there;
During construction of my engine I cut the back section out of the bottom of my oil pan and dropped it 1 1/2", so for the width of the pan, 9", and 12" of the length of the pan, I added volume.....so, my question is How Much?? So, I guess you take the measurements of the cube, 1 1/2" X 9" X 12" and do some fancy math and get the added volume, which is__________? |
There are 231 cubic inches in a gallon of liquid so your dimentions 9"x12"x1.5"
equals 162 cubic inches, 1 quart equals 57.75 ci, so 162 ci divided by 57.75 equals appx. 2.8 quarts (I think) |
Soooooooooo**)ooooo:3DSMILE:oooooo**)ooooooooooooo oooo**), now I have a 7.8 qt. capacity oil pan plus two 3 qt. Accusumps, for a total of 13.8:CRY:qts. of oil. Sounds like a FUN oil change.**)**)**)**):rolleyes::rolleyes:
|
Do you purge the accusumps when you change the oil? I guess it only makes sense to.
|
Did you drop the oil pickup so that it's still at the bottom of the pan? If not, you did not gain anything.
In fact you may be in danger of oil starvation. |
Good question, however I did not change the area of the pan where the oil pickup is located, just the rear part of the pan, so it shoud not effect the pickup.

Sometimes I forget things.... **)**) ....I guess its good that I do at least go back and double, and sometimes, triple check myself..... :eek::eek:....I don't know where I got the NOTION that I had 2 3 qt. Accusumps when in reality I have 2 2 qt. Accusumps, bringing my oil capacity down to ONLY 11.8 qts.... :JEKYLHYDE:JEKYLHYDE:JEKYLHYDE:JEKYLHYDE....and, according to the Accusump tech the 2 2's will probably only add 3 1/2 qts. to the system, bringing the total down to 11.3 qts. :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:
