Garage Alarm Systems
What type of alarm system are you guys using for a detached garage? Is it self installed or professionally installed?

I have my wireless ADT system extended out into the detached garage with sensors on the overhead garage door and other entry door, a motion detector and a keypad so I can arm/disarm the system.

I also have my wireless ADT system going to my detached garage/shop. I did not have a seperate key pad put in the garage and it is a real pain in the a$$.
If I forget to turn the alarm off before entering the garage it goes off and I get a call from the alarm company. If you don't have a phone in the garage you then race for the house hoping that the cops haven't already been dispatched. I would definately have a controll pad put somewhere in your Garage.

Not to mention that if you are coming home without a key pad in the garage, you have no way to tell if the alarm key fob has disarmed the system or not until the alarm actually goes off.....
