Vacum nipple caps

I made my monthly run downtown to the allergist office. Traffic and 4 floors of parking garage. Cobra doesn't do slow and uphill well. The clutch needs adjustment again, free travel almost gone again. OH LOOK! one of the vacum nipple caps on the front carbruetor is missing, and the nipple cap on the rear carb is almost off. The remaining cap is a verry loose fit. I never had a problem before having those vacum caps come off. Auto parts stores around here are getting fewer and fewer. Schucks is prevalent here in town. Anyone reccamend a source for good to great quality vacum nipple caps?

Mike, the only time I ever had nipple caps come off was due to a mild backfire. You're right, though, good quality caps will stay on better. I've seen good quality mixed sets at most of the auto parts houses, and found that the black neoprene caps fit and hold better than the colored plastic ones (and IMO look better too).

I saw them at Sears hardware and Ace hardware stores.

For some caps we put a very small hose clamp on just to make sure we never loose one at an inopertune time.

The vacum caps that were problematic were colored vinyl. I liked the pretty blue ones. I bought an assortmant of both the colored vinyl and black neoprene at Baxters Auto Parts. The black neoprene did fit tight, shouldn't come off.
