Mounting fuel pump

Any one know if there are any problems with passing DMV inspection if an electric fuel pump is mounted in the trunk? I know original 427's had them mounted in the trunk but is it a good idea? (fumes, fuel leak, etc.)

don't know about your state, but, i have my pump mounted to the fenderwell inside the trunk and no one says boo.

I don't see why that would be a problem but I would recommend you put a rubber spacer between the pump and the mounting point for noise reduction. Cut a piece out of a radiator hose and use that.

We did mount ours in the trunk but moved the pump outside the trunk. We now mount the pump to the front wall of the trunk but on the outside. Outside allowed it to be mounted a little lower yet is protected by the IRS differential and was quitter in the cockpit.

I agree with xlr8or, use four vibration studs.
