Most of the big blocks will be looking to crest the 150 mark. There's an argument to be made that safety equipment is a waste of time in a Cobra going 150+.

Well -- I am going to the Shelby Club meeting this Friday , and Kevin Enderby (track director FCA) is a friend, so i will pitch the idea and see what they think. -- I am interested from a BBQ Chicken standpoint since I have a street car only.

AKA Would be there , run the BBQ, find some hotties to run the timing equip.,

Know anywhere around DC where we can rent a runway for day?

Check www.modelmayhem.com, search local models. I'm sure Tim wouldn't mind the grueling task of taking photos of models posing next to Cobras...

Shoot, I'd be happy cresting 100 mph at this point.

Getting past 145 mph is difficult as I see from others who tried. There comes a point at which there seems to be an end of the fulminating acceleration and any gain in speed is dependent on aerodynamics.
Anyway, after that trip out to test top speed something has given, because my 427 SO is burning lots of oil, as the sidepipes tell. I must check the headgasket, maybe it has got a leak.

With a Lambo you probably hit over 180mph with ease, but the Cobra gets to the 140mph mark so fast and with so little drama that makes you feel at the helm of the most powerfull machine on earth. I would not worry about what happens beyond 145mph, which is a not legal speed anywhere bar German Autobahns.
The brutal acceleration and 145mph is enough for me.

May be I am chicken-out!!!

FYI
Myth Buster used this run way for their test-TV show.

Tan

Sounds like a blast!

As to the chicken out thing, only you know for sure. Did you or not?

There's a trick to doing it... you just close your eyes.

Greetings; -- an update on this.

As promised ; I went to the Shelby club meeting and brought up the idea and they were receptive and interested in helping,

- however a couple of members were part of some event there (Alameda NAS) and remembered whoever was managing the strip from a rental point of view was a royal pain in the arse.

Tan - can we get in-touch with the people that ran your event so we can get an introduction to the managing entity>?

In this way - we can see if the business part of this will run.
