Default Garage Update # 8

Guy's,

There has been progress, the brickies worked yesterday (public holiday in Vic) and they finished the brick work.

The final measurement was taken on Monday for the beams. They should be ready early next week (this gives time for the builder to recover from his operation today) and then he can build the second story.

All good so far. All going to plan it should be at lock up in 3 weeks.

Second Story ...... I hope your four poster goes that high and you can roll the cars off on the second floor

You must be still sending slabs to the council for those approvals

Nice work !

Default Councils

Cameron,

It did take a bit of wheeling and dealing to get the height, but at the end of the day its completely legal in every way. I tried to start from the boundry but the Council Computer Says NO.....

It did take 7 Months to get everything approved, a long time in my books.......

I think your Garage Mahal looks great so far! What are the plans for the second story?

Ah! That answers my question. I was wondering if you were going to move into the second story! You can start a car collection in there now.

With all that space you probably have room for another stablemate for your Daytona and Cobra...

Default Room

LoBelly,

There is room for a stable mate, I have just gone 1/2's in a 67 Mustang Fastback, but I am looking for an XC Coupe.....

Does Australia have a lot of 60's (50's, even!) Detroit Iron there?

So you are going to live in the shed while the house is knocked down and re built?

Some good quality mustang buys out of the states at the moment, a good time to invest.

Keep the pictures coming.

There was a bit of US iron delivered locally back then but mostly big sedans like the Pontiac Parisian, Chev Impala, Ford Galaxy, Dodge Phoenix etc. I'm note sure if they came through the Aussie GM, Ford and Chrysler dealers or were privately imported.

These cars appear to be factory right hand drive versions so I'm inclined to think they were done by some local division of the parent company. A friend of mine just recently sold a 64 Pontiac that he bought from an old guy next door about 20 years ago. I think he had owned it since new. I went over it and it certaily looked like a factory right hand drive setup to me.

There is a steady stream of US muscle cars that makes its way across the pacific to enthusiasts down here. Fortunately our registration requirements don't force you to convert LHD to RHD for classic cars. I think the cutoff is newer than 25 years.

Cheers

looks like a second, hope you didn't have to pay money for it.

If you're looking at getting something a bit better quality, talk to John from the Stake Bank he got a good deal from Doors plus.

The rest of the garage looks great.
