Default IDF vs. IDA?

What's the difference between a IDF Weber and an IDA Weber?

Anyone?

Bueller? Bueller? Ferris Bueller? Bueller?...

Or, to quote Pink Floyd, "Is there anybody OUT there?"

IDF is a street oriented carb with choke, IDA is a race oriented carb without choke.
IDA is the traditional Cobra type carb.

Doug, you are right but most of the 48IDF's do not have chokes. I've got 48IDF's on my car and I think they are a little bit more streetable.

Rochester Bob, what size venturis do you have on your 48iDF's? I have a 48 on a 302/345hp crate engine and my mechanic is telling me to get 34 MM venturis. The car idles perfect, great when I punch it but cruising between 25-3500 it is sluggish.
Thanks
Jack
