427 w build
Guys, I am building a 427w, for my Superformance. here are the specs. I am hoping for around 500hp.
Dart SHP block 4.125 bore Eagle forged rotating assembly, 4.00 stroke, H-beam rods 6.250, Mahle pistons Victor jr type heads 60cc 10:1-10.5:1 compression ford hydraulic roller lifters Comp cams extreme energy #35-522-8 duration: 282,290 lift: 565,574 duration @ .050 lift: 232,240 Victor Jr. intake Holley 750 street HP |
500 should be no problem.

I think you'll hit your 500hp. Peak will be at about 5500 rpm, which is right in a comfortable spot for a hydraulic roller.
It should be a nice timid street motor with lots of power. If you ever decide you want more power, trade the heads off. If you can budget a little more, go with a set of AFR heads. You'll gain a lot more power. That amount of horsepower is a lot, especially in a tiny car, but I always advise my customers to aim a little higher, because you get used to it after awhile and wish you had a little more. :D |
500 Hp is plenty for me. The car is driven only on the street. My build seems to be a proven formula. I want to keep it simple, and cost effective.

You might also want to wait and see what the new FRPP 427 crate engine might have to offer. Supposed to be in the 550 HP range also.
Still waiting to see what components they will be using. I couldn't wait,and built my own Dart based 427 and it is proving to be a beast so far! |
Hi 427spr,
You can build a very streetable 427-W with either the DART OR new BOSS block. We just built a 408-W and it is very mild and made 491 hp & 515 ft lbs with very streetable manners. It idles nice and made over 400 ft lbs below 3000 rpm. With a lite weight car, 500+ hp is one hell of a ride.... |
