Flat tappet composite lifters.
Are many people using Schubeck flat tappet composite lifters?
Schubeck has apparently gone off the scene, and (SM) Smith Machine LLc are making the same style of lifter with the composite insert. There is a Tool steel lifters available from Trend Performance which is claimed to either be a replacement for Schubeck which in my way of thinking is debateable due to vast difference in hardness with the Trend at 64 Rockwell and the SM/Schubeck at approx 100 Rockwell. I havent read of any Ford engine failures, but apparently lifters in the 2004 to 2006 era some were an indian hydraulic body converted to solid and the composite puck was epoxied in to the base, apparently the puck has come out of some, but that could be almost non existent considering the numbers out there and the chance it can happen to me might be as good as me winning Lotto. Smith Machine now make them as a press fit since 2007 which apparently has solved any issues! |
