that's not too bad then, could have been the white smoke and motor locked up thread. you gonna replace both sides?

Mark I am not going to replace both sides but i will check the other side and retorque. The headers are such a pain to get off the heads...need a midget contortionist to reach the back bolts.

All finished replacing the blown head gasket. Cylinder bores looked good, could still see evidence of cross-hatches. Runs fine, but I have not had a chance to drive it more than a test run so far. Hope to get some time this Sat. since the weather forecast is 70s.
