Certainly.....Doug. The name "YerDugliness" was given to me by a college buddy. We had been moving him into a new house all day and on the last trip I insisted we stop for some liquid refreshment. He hesitantly agreed, then mentioned that he was most certainly going to get a ration of sheet from his wife for taking so long. I mentioned that I understood fully what he meant, that my wife was so demanding that at times I felt like she viewed herself as royalty, and speculated that perhaps I should refer to her as "Your Highness". He looked at me and said "Well, if that is the case, that would make you YerDugliness". It has been my nickname ever since, although the spelling issues relate to different experiences.

Thanks for all the great advice, Rick! I had wondered if it might be a good thing to squirt a bit of oil down into the cylinders before I actually start the engine. Before I spin it up, I plan on replacing the valve cover gaskets, the spark plugs, and the oil (it has probably 500 miles on it, but it has been sitting in the pan for a year, so out goes the old and in goes the new). I'll probably run a low-vis oil, perhaps a 5W-20, for a few hundred miles before I change the oil back to the normal 20W-40....things can get quite hot here in Texas.

I'm certain I'll end up with an Accusump at some point, most certainly when the engine is rebuilt if not before. Right now the rebuild is in the planning stage, soon I'll start accumilating parts, then everything gets delivered to the engine builder and I wait. I'll drive it this summer and when the 6 month insurance policy expries in November, I'll pull the engine and get it into the trailer. That will give the engine builder a few months to work his magic before I want to get it back on the road.

For now, though, I'm certain that whatever lubricative efforts I make before cranking the engine will be better than nothing.

Cheers from Doug!!

Now are Bill and I in the "good and smart" category, or are we in the "dumb and ignorant" category?

Kiss my a$$ comes to mind here, probably forgot more about cars in the 10 minutes than some self-proclaimed experts will ever know in the entire lifetime.
