cam spec

1995 5.0 ho stock gt
well here are the results of my new timing chain with 9 setting

set at 0 57+16+ 180 =253/2=126.5
2A 34+14+180 = 228/2=114
4A = 129
6A = 124
8A =125
2R =117.5
4R =120
6R =121.5
8R =124
Do any of these #s look anywhere close to what they should be?
thanks for anyones help.

I'm sorry to say, but your figures don't compute.
For instance, the right hand column, (I'll assume inlet peak) doesn't increment at the same rate as the advance keyway rate, it does seem to on the retard side.

How about you post your cam card specs and we'll tell you where to put it?

For me, if a cam is ground "straight up", I advance it by 2 degrees to pick up a little low speed torque. It also allows for chain stretch for the life of the engine until the next freshenup.

i don't think he has one Gary......it was the factory cam....

this is all he has...

276/266 at .006
206/210 at .050
Lift with 1.6 ratio rockers .445/.444
Intake opens: 20* BTDC
Intake closes: 76* ABDC
Exhaust opens: 67* BBDC
Exhaust closes:-19
Lobe separation angle: 115.5

So with this info John, you can degree your cam from the .006 figures.
The .050 figures look backwards, I think it should read 276/266 @ .006 AND 210/206 @ .050.

If the intake does only have 206 @ .050, then your timing would be open at 11.5 ATDC, close at 37.5 ABDC. Intake centreline at 115.5 ATDC.
Of course this is "tongue in cheek" since we don't know the timing of the ramps.

Yes those numbers are all over the place. Are you trying to check where the intake center line is installed or how much advance you have. Just go up to max lift and stop about .010 before and after max lift. Check the degrees at those points and add together and divide by two and this will tell you where the intake lobe is installed in the engine. I would think you would want to be at about 110 to 112.

Thanks, Keith
