Joe Gibbs Differential Oil & Transmission Fluid
About a year ago I was talking to Joe Gibbs about motor oil and brought up differential and transmission lubes. At that time they recommended the old stand-bys like Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube and GM Synchromesh. They also said they were working on their own lubes for differential and transmission which they expected to be a superior product once developed (and of course they would say that). Fast forward 12 months and both lubes are now available.
Joe Gibbs gear oils: Gear Oils Joe Gibbs transmission fluids: Transmission Fluids These are relatively new but I was wondering if anyone is using them and what their 1st impressions are? Are these an improvement over the "tried & true" or just another choice on par with the rest? |
I remember reading on JG motor oil. Its great for classic cars with flat tappet lifters who don't have cats in the exhaust, as it can have zinc which is great lubricant but hell on cats. And lots of other goodies. They have a couple versions I recall one for classic street cars and then racing oil. I think he is getting his money's worth out of the chemical engineers he's hired by keeping them busy. I have zero experience or info, but going on his reputation and knowing its a "ground up" effort with his own guys I would imagine that this is a great product. Necessary? Usually not but if you race a lot the best lube you can get is advised.

I'm a believer in their motor oil, just don't know about new gear & trans lubes. Joe Gibbs reputation is solid, I would expect these new products to be fairly good.
