Nope, haven't opened it up on a prepped track. I made the mistake of making a low boost pass (only 10 lbs) at our local track and they banned me.

For now I'm content with hitting the winding country roads (I drove 200 miles today). Cheers.

What the poll is showing so far, looks like it may have just about run its' course.

Out of 45 Cobra 427 owners, 29 have SBFs and 16 have BBFs
  • 64.4% have SBFs
  • 35.6% have BBFs
Of that 29 with SBFs, 2 wish they had a BBF
Of that 16 with BBFs, 0 wish they had a SBF
  • Satisfaction with the SBF is 93%
  • Satisfaction with the BBF is 100%
I wouldn't have thought that the SBF would out number the BBF by a near 2 to 1 margin in the 427 Cobra but that is what the poll is showing (so far).

OK, what that really means is that 7% of the SBF owners are actually smarter than the other 93%.:3DSMILE:

Smart and witty. I like it. :)

FWIW,

I looked at the last batch of engines that I did for Cobras....

9 of them were BB's (FE's), 8 were SBF's. With the exception of two, all the small blocks were 427's and up.

I'm getting ready to start on an FE for 601HP right now that I will probably do a build thread on....it's going to be a spin-to-the-moon, underwear-striping machine.

RodKnock would say that most of your customers are brighter than the ones that are not....:3DSMILE:

When I was in college, I test drove a used twin turbo 300ZX at a used car dealership. Back then, I was into zippy forced induction engines....

Then the salesman told me something that stuck in my head:

A big-little man is pretty stout, but a big-big man is stouter.

If that needs translated into something besides southern-redneck (I'm from KY), it basically means that you can make a small block make big horsepower, but the big cubes will always win as far as having horsepower-making potential.

I'm still into zippy engines, I just like big, zippy engines. :)

RodKnock 06-02-2014 01:39 PM

Wait for it........

AL427SBF 06-02-2014 05:09 PM

Thank you RodKnock for holding the floor me :)

No question the BB potential for HP is greater than SB, never in dispute, SB is limited to about 460 CID max, BB can go substantially higher.

As for zippy, there is Big Brother (BB) zippy, and his Smaller Brother (SB) zippier.
Good note to end on, anyone can start a new thread to discuss the zippy family further should they want to :D

Nah, I don't want to give you another reason to watch male figure skating.

rodneym 06-02-2014 05:46 PM

If patrickt were here, he'd say that Football players are zippy, while male figure skaters are zippier.

Male figure skating? The analogy was a "figure skater", if memory serves your brain defaulted to Brian Boitano, me I like to watch the girls :)
