Solid lifters....how to?

What modifications are required on a later hydraulic roller 302/5.0litre block to fit
1. solid roller lifters and cam?
2. solid flat tappet lifters and cam?

Easy? ....hard?

Cheers,
Glen

No problems with either.

New cam, new lifters, new push rods (maybe), a spider to hold everything in place, and different distributor gear. Pretty simple and you get to rev the heck out of the engine if it is built for that sort of thing. I have ran solid lifters in my SO 427 for 8 years. Never a problem and every so often I check my gaps (once a year maybe).

Thanks you both.

....and Clois, flat tappet or roller in your SO?

Cheers,
Glen

On a newer hydraulic roller 302 block, there are no mods needed......swap out the hydraulic lifters for solid roller lifters, put in a solid roller cam and the appropriate length pushrods and the correct distributor gear and go.....

Ran a solid roller cam in my 331 race engine for 8 seasons,I'd check the lash once a year and that's all........7000 rpm chip in the box, although on the dyno we revved it to 8000 just to see what the numbers looked like....

You might want to restrict the oil to the lifters a little with the solids, just depends on the lifters and how you will use the car.

Good luck, Keith
