Have a new engine that has been sitting a LONG time, what to do pre startup

I am probably a couple of weeks from being able to start the engine on the car...
I have fuel injected 302 Ford crate engine that was built in 1994 .

I plan on getting break in oil and priming the poop out of it.

A local engine builder told me not to worry about pulling the cam to re-apply assembly lube (a job that I am not sure I'm up to anyhow) just to prime the poop out of it and try to verify that the hydraulic lifters get oil.

Sound about right or should I see about getting someone to re-lube the cam?

What else should I be doing before that first start?

Disconnect ignition and try to run the main crank to build up some oil pressure. A big drill can do it. You might be able to get it just with the starter

Fill it with Brad Penn break in oil. Prime the pump with an electric drill. Fill the fuel bowls with gas. Have the distributor in with some advance so it will fire immediately.

Light it off and pray that there are no leaks from all the dry seals and gaskets...
