Need advice on pushrod change

The engine in my Cobra is a highly modified 351 Windsor with Edelbrock Victor Jr heads and hydraulic roller lifters. When it was assembled, my mechanic measured and selected pushrods that would allow the proper lifter preload to be achieved when the non-locking nuts that retain the rockers on the studs were torqued to spec. Now, several years later I find I can't get the proper preload when the rocker stud nuts are torqued.

I assume one solution is to go with slightly longer pushrods and locking nuts on the rocker studs. Here are my questions:
  1. Is this a reasonable solution to this problem?
  2. How much longer should the new pushrods be?
  3. What locking nuts do you recommend?

Got a picture so I can see what you're looking at?

I don't know if it matters, but the rocker nuts are just under one inch long.

Shot you an email back....

For one thing, I'd like to know why you don't think you have enough preload. It shouldn't have changed.

The other thing is, this isn't a non-adjustable system. This is a fully adjustable roller rocker arm, with a guideplate, rocker stud, and polylock.

To adjust preload, you go to zero lash, then dial in how much preload you want (1/2 turn, 3/4 turn, etc.) with the big nut, then tighten up the set screw in the middle.

Just to close out this thread. .. Brent helped remove the blinds of ignorance from my eyes via email. (I was having trouble accessing this forum). I have Polylocks, but did not know it nor how to use them. All is good now. Thanks again Brent. You are a tremendous asset for this forum.
