It looks like your fuel hose and the heater hose are touching. This is not helping your problem. |
The Coolcarb Heat Spacers are the best, I have a 630 H.P. 482 Stroker engine in my Kirkham, electric fuel pump only, no mechanical pump, with a fuel log, I am using the .155" Thick Spacer. Just like Gbowman said, their work great, like I said before it's a completely new type of technology.

Acknowledge the spacer + heatshield combos are probably more efficient, but I like the cleaner look of just the spacer.
Going to order the QFT ½” phenolic carb spacer from summitracing today. Does it require rejetting? Up or down? Again – trying to solve; 1) hard to start when hot, and 2) bucking/surging/spitting at low speed when hot. I sailing into somewhat uncharted territory. Never disassembled AN fittings. Assume AN wrenches are a must? Carb has 7 years & 5k miles on it (yeah – I know…I need to drive it more). Could the bucking be a result of carb deterioration due to today’s fuel? Maybe a rebuild is in order? |

No offense, but why would want to use the phenloic spacer, even with some new improvements that is old technology that has been around for decades. The Coolcarb Spacer will most likely solve all of your issues and it is hardly noticeable. It won't be long before you will be hearing a lot about Coolcarb, Denny the owner is just a one man operation right now, I believe he is an engineer. I can tell you this the racers and the marine community have already caught on and are raving about the results. Not trying to brag here, but I have been building FE Ford's for 45 Years, so I do have a little experience with this.

Can't remember who sold this as a pack (Jegs has it under their brand), but I used just the 1/8" spacer with a gasket on both sides for all of my BB Cobra's
I used the small spacer with a gasket on both sides, raises the carb a little less than 1/4" with both gaskets and the smaller 1/8" heat shield http://www.jegs.com/images/photos/50...555-154050.jpg |

To me QuickFuel's setup looks a lot like the Cool Carb setup, albeit with a different decal.

Probably, only I did not use the larger, bottom heat shield, just the heat shields between the two gaskets. Worked on everything, even the 427 Tunnelport powered ERA (188) with twin 600's on it and the old style radiator. Before their installation it was a nightmare to drive in any temps above 80.....Afterwards, I could drive it in temps of 100 with high humidity and not have the fuel boil in the bowls.
