Roush 427R

22k miles, dropped a hydraulic lifter in #4 cylinder exhaust. Lifter bearing broken in pieces and spider retainer also broken and fell into oil pan. 1 Camshaft lobe trashed. So there's a lot of metal part in there. Did a leak down and compression test prior and they were good.

Does the motor needs a refresh or complete tear down to see if any other parts are damage? Motor is already 85% apart in car right now.

If I were you and already gotten that far, I would do the whole thing.

I agree to take it apart and check Because there might be stray bits of metal in your bearings now.

Some pics would be good.

I have had many roller lifter failures, and many are a camshaft job in car.

Sometimes I prefer to pull engines for further analysis, and to save your back.
