Ford Racing aluminum block

I may be too late to ask, as I've already plunnked down the card, but anyone have an opinion on or experience with the Ford aluminum 427 windsor block?

I'll be building a mildish twin turbo 427 for an up and coming project using this block. Any advice?

Mildish

Twin turbo?
I know they stopped selling the 600hp crate engine based on that block.
What is a mildish twin turbo, sounds sort of opposite of mild? Mild in terms of twin turbo motors i guess?
Cheers
S

LOL, yea, mild in terms of a twin turbo. Maybe just 10 lbs of boost, 750 HP, fairly mild mannered idle and lots of torque as low as 2500 RPM.

I never knew they had a crate engine based on that block. I have one of there first iron block 427 crates. Valve guides and seals keep the headers well lubed, but oil is cheaper than the solution. I'll fix it one day.

I would advise a good cast iron block, such as a Dart, World Products, etc.

An aluminum block will always give up horsepower to a cast iron block and the issues can be more pronounced under forced induction.

May be for the best, but the ford aluminum block was back ordered until 3-15. I waited, then at 3 -15, I got an email it was pushed back to 3-31, so I patiently waited another 2 weeks. After no email I decided to recheck the last email. It was delayed until 3-31-23.

Uh no. That's not OK.

I now have a Man O War Iron block on the way, should ship today. Fingers crossed. I want to get it and the rotating assembly to my local machine shop.

Hey Brent. You would have been my first go to, but 5 years ago or so, you weren't interested in working on a boosted engine. But I am still quite happy with the cam and parts you helped me with on my cobra 9 years ago.
