Alternator does not work?
Hi
do have a 8242N on an LS6 running, pin 3 to 10W 33OHm resistor to pre-excitation. The voltage is 12-13,9V commuting. what can I do ? Pls help. |
have a spare part, do not measure any difference on the pins and gnd or 12v output
new installed without any pin connected, normaly about 3000U/min the generator starts on its own and must have about 14V nothing stays on battery voltage.. ?? how about the pins, can anyone say what there has to be connected? must be the S pin hang on 12v ? |
have fixed it.

Tell us about the fix.

I really do not like electric problems ;)
and High voltage was my school education 30 years ago.... then switched over to machine programming now, I am completely back to the roots and still learning about things Finished the electricity now on the FFR, would need such a big electric printing, as you did on the SPF ;) https://ibb.co/WDc2VvB PS: what is the problem of this forum, cannot upload a jpg of 64kb? Upload of file failed. Good forums have no problem on uploading fotos, if they are bigger they convert on themselve. Img on Link does not work either. |
did not last long...
again, the Voltage is low, the alternator does not work I checked now with excitation current(? right word) and the alternator does not load. The bulb is on before start, goes out on start, nothing changes on the voltage. Tests show the both alternator are dead.... new and dead... OK, I am looking now to find something good stuff. I have a 8242N style alternator with Chevy bracket https://www.summitracing.com/parts/n...63327#overview 6 rib which possibilities do i have to finish up that... ? other bracket and other style alternator? which does fit? (LS6) what can I do, do not want to by the next trash... https://ibb.co/thXkD08 PS: would like to uplad a pic in small (60kb), does not work, always error on upload... |
straing behavior
I had 2 alternators (the same), one in car worked and is now dead. I tried the good on yesterday. Start 14,0V, loading about 25A. After an hour of ride, the voltage goes down 13,9, then 13,8, then 13,7 and then out 12V(Batterie), also now dead. Could someone tell me exactly what this alternator needs on the pins (SILP). Which is an input/output, which signal should be connected (voltage) I think the alternator is running in fail safe and kills himself after time. 2W check bulb works fine (L) clock wise (from front) rotation 8242N HTML Code:

found, the alternator needs to be fully wired.
|
first part of test ride was fine, everything worked fine
stopped for half an hour after nothing worked again... buhhh, more problems than just voltage... I think the alternator gets hot. |
There are a lot of wiring diagrams on line, if you google your alternator part number, that is how I wired mine.
Warum bist Du nicht am Oesterreichring fuer die F1? |
I do not find a specific diagram for the SILP alternator online, but already got the needed information.
BG
