Cam for 347 stroker?
I am trying to put together a 347 engine for my Cobra kit car. I reading everything I can and still don't really understand duration in relationship to idle etc. I want a cam that comes on about 2200-6000 rpm with a rough idle. I can't translate that into duration , lift, lobe centers, etc.
Comp Cam 280H sounds like, on paper, what I want. Lunati Cam offers the "Bracket Master"- sounds good but has two versions, one has a .488 lift and the other .512 lift. I don't know which one would be the better choice. I would appreciate any suggestions, Thanks Harris |
cam choices for 347 stroker
Ford Racing offers several appropriate cams for the small block.
Part number M-6250-x303 offers..."Ultra high performance camshaft. Fair idle quality. Big time torque and horsepower maker up to 6200 rpm. Ranks just under Ford part number M6250-Z303 which they call "Camzilla" |
Harris,
Best way to pick a cam is contact a cam vendor and fill out a cam selection questionaire. Here is one from Comp. Cams http://www.competitioncams.com/infor...on/default.asp |
I have a Trick flow stage one roller cam (TFS-51402000)in my 5.0 explorer motor. It has a nice lope at idle and comes on strong at about 2000. The power peak is 5500 rpm.
From the Summit racing website the cam specs out at: Duration at .050 in. lift: 221 intake/225 exhaust * Gross valve lift: .499 in. intake/.510 in. exhaust * Lobe Separation: 112 degrees * RPM Range: 2,000 to 5,500 Sounds like a good match for you and this cam only costs $140 from Summit Racing. |
I put a new 347 in my 65 fastback to replace the wornout 289,155k miles and it came with an E303 which is good for the street but makes me want a little more!
