342 stoker question

With a tight budget I am looking at different options. While I would love to have the better cyl heands I think I will have to settle for the GT-40 P's on the 342 stroker. I jsut figure it is better to buidl from the bottom up, rather than from the top down.

Question is with GT-40 cyl P heads. Can I still get away with 19 lbs injectors and stock cam or do I have to go with 24 lbs with this set up and a new cam.

Granted it would be starved for air but could I get away with the stock throttle body and stock mass air?

Damn I hate having limited funds!

Anybody out there?

You might try asking the same questions at www.corral.net. .

I think you'll need to upgrade the MAF and TB. Stock stuff will choke it, and if your spending the money for a stroker, spend the money to make it work.

I'd go with 24lb injectors too.

24 lbs injectors

Jason,
What little I know tells me to go with the 24s; it will never be what you want with the 19s. You say you might try a different cam? What are the specs on the cam you have available now.

Jason,

You have to work from the top down if you want to make more power. As you probably already know your engine is an air pump. The more air and fuel that you get into it the more HP it will make. The 19# injectors are just adequate for the stock engine, you will need to increase the size if you intend on making more power. This means that you will need to change the calibration on the Mass Air as well. It is very difficult to change just one item on an injected engine they all work together. Without a good set of heads, intake, throttle body, mass air, injectors and either changing the ratio of the rockers or a cam, you will not be able to feed the stroker. On the other hand a stock short block with all of these items will make decent HP.

If your on a budget, try a site called the corral. This a site that people sell used parts on and you can save a good amount of money.

Just my $.02

Terry
