Two Four Barrel Set Up??

A FRIEND IS BUYING A COBRA WITH A 302 WITH A 2 X 4 SET UP. THE CAR WILL NOT RUN AT THIS TIME. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE RUN A 2 x 4 SET ON A SMALL BLOCK? I THINK IT WILL BE TO MUCH CARBURETION FOR A MILD SB. WHAT DO YOU THINK? SET UP LOOKS GOOD.

It will work, providing the carbs are small (390 cfm works pretty good). The performance, however, will probably not be as good as with a single 600-650 cfm.

I run an 2X4 AFB set-up on an original Cobra "low-rise" manifold. Not sure what the CFM of the carbs is, but they are from the same period and probably around 400 CFM. Carter did make some 400 CFM's more recently which should work if you can find them. Runs strong, gulps fuel and looks great. Go for it.

I run a pair of 390 Holleys on my 351. Contrary to popular opinion, they can be made to run just as good or even better than a single Holley. It just takes some tuning and time. It is certainly worth the trouble.
