Dave,
I personally do not know what the differences may be between a standard 351 and the sportsman block. It appears that deck heights can be different. You may wish to look at:Racer Walsh I can tell you that no one has had any problems fitting a standard 351 into the JBL chassis. Everytime a sportsman block is tried, there are header fitment problems and mount problems. (and it seems to be a deck height and mount location thing.) Please note: I did not give you guys a bunch of extra room in the engine bay. (Someone might have tried to slip in a big block if I had left extra room.):LOL::LOL: Therefore, something is different. I just do not know what it is. I have not been able to get engine drawings from Ford on the sportsman block. No problem for the 302 and 351. but the sportsman unit is not available to me. If you can find out the differences, I would really like to know. Then folks could be informed of the differences going in, instead of having to dick around trying to make everything work. |

Is it possible that different heads were used on the blocks that had fitment problems? There are a lot of different heads available that use different exhaust ports, Yates, Brodix 200's, TFS Street Heats to name a few. |
