EM Headers
I recently purchase an EM Cobra originally with a 460 BB. The original owner replaced the 460 with a very nice 302. The car does not have headers or pipes. Is there a source for EM headers and pipes. Since EM was not doing business, I was hoping somebody could help me with this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I THINK Unique and EM use the same header......Any Unique users out there with some pics for comparison? If not, I can give you dimensions from my BB headers and you can have some made...

When I was young and stupid, as opposed to being old and stupid, I thought that I would save some $$$ and weld-up my own headers. Bought all the individual tubes and (1) 'one' header/sidepipe flange from EM. After having them sit around for a year or two, I ended up buying a welded up set of headers from EM.
If you want the stuff, I would take a token amount for it, but be aware that there are no directions as to how they would be jigged up - would have to be trimmed and formed (put in a rectangular shape) at the head flange. Right now they are round tubes from end to end. Probably more trouble than its worth but let me know... you maybe able to get a drawing from EM, maybe not. Let me know... - Dan |

If you hear of a set of em headers let me know. I believe it would be a little much for me to custom build myself. Thanks for the reply and please keep me in mind if you run across a set. |

I'm not done with my headers yet, but so far things are going well. The biggest problem that I have is one of my own making. I want true equal length tubes, unlike the vast majority of what's out there, so I've got to figure out how to make a 12" tube fit in a 10" space.....
If you go with the standard direct routing for each tube it's alot easier. Don't let the round tube/square hole thing hold you up, just hit the tubes with a ball peen hammer until they fit, not very difficult, my six year old helped. If Dan's tubes are pre bent, all you need to do is bolt/prop the side pipes in place and through trial and error figure out which tubes fit where. I started with a pile of U bends and just cut and welded them into the right shapes. Many simple steps that end up with a complicated looking part. Good Luck! Jon Miller |
