Motor Mounts
Which motor mounts do you guys use for a mild small block - not a racer, just a mild street engine? ...donor is a 93 t-bird and the motor mounts are huge and moderately ugly.

Good Mounts
I recently replaced mine. They are made by Anchor, Part #2316. Purchased at Kragens. Appear to be well made with a bolt through them to prevent separation. Look to be well made. I believe the application was for a 1968 Ford Galaxie/Ltd with 302/351???
Good luck Rick |
Thanks Rick. ...saves a lot of time digging through catalogs and/or bone yards to find something that looks good and fits right.

howdy,
I just bought a pair of anchor motor mounts from auto zone for $8.99. All 289/302, 351w and 351c are basically the same. The ones I bought were for a 71 torino w/ a 351c-4v, but all small blocks have the same pn. |
TWM,
Am I missing something here? %/ You haven't got a kit yet and you're looking for engine mounts already? All kits don't use the same mounts, you know... |
Yes, I know, and don't really care what fits a particular "kit" since I'm doing my own chassis fabrication. This is a hobby with me, not a religion, so I'm not hung up on the labels - just the skills and knowledge it takes to do it myself.
I really appreciate the input from the guys who have that one piece of information that I want/need today. And, today, I need a layout dimension on a motor mount that looks a whole lot better than the one I have! Thanks again Rick and Stengun. I hope that I can do the same for someone else. TWM |
Any time TWM. Glad to be able to share the info firsthand.

Checks these engine mounts out!
I've developed a custom small block ford engine mount for the superformance chassis. It could be used in your build up. some of the features include:
compact design Tig welded mild steel Powder coated semi gloss black poylurethane bushings w/ stainless steel sleeve and shoulder bolt all Stainless steel hardware and tube of loctite included Check out page two of my photo gallery and click onto the pic twice. If your interested in a set email me rodscobra@shaw.ca Hope this helps. Rod |
Rodney,
The upper mount looks very close to the ones made by Totalcontrolproducts in CA. I have a set and I made custom lower mounts myself. See my Photo album. David |
Nice

I guess great minds think alike, lol the polyurethane bushing type engine mounts are used in a lot of big dollar street rods and I just copied that design and engineering, looks as if I'm not the only one! These type of polyurethane engine mounts are bullet proof! I used to break side pipe brackets regularly with the mushy factory Ford mounts. The engine doesn't twist with throttle applications and I don't feel any vibration transmitted through the frame! You will be very happy with your modified creation! Nice welding by the way! Your car looks dynamite! Rod |
