March Alternator Brackets and Pulleys

Hey folks.... a couple questions...

I have a 69 351W, Summit Timing Cover, Edelbrock 8843 water pump, Edlebrock RPM Heads.

I bought the March 1610 (MCH-1610) Pulleys, they are fine, but I didn't know I needed an extra spacer (looks like about 5/8) for the crank pulley... has anyone run into this? I do have a street damper (cheap fluid dampr).

Also the March Alt Bracket (MCH-30055) will not line up at all... its way too far off to try and weasel together.... the spacers on the bolts from the bracket to the water pump are all wrong, bolts are too short (I can deal with this but just new bolts will fix this, me thinks). When I bolt up the two bolts on the water pump the bolt to the head for the alt mount is angled way too much to weasel... anyone have these issues?

I have an email into March on this stuff but I am anxious to hear others opinions/experiences..

looks like someone else was having the same issue about 1 year ago but there was no resolve posted.

Thanks!!!
Steve

Steve, I purchased an alternator bracket assembly from March. It took two rounds to get everything right (SB Ford with GM alternator and high volume Edelbrock water pump. It took getting one of the techs to do a custom work up. The second shipment was perfect. You've got to talk to one of the techs and discuss what you've got and what the current problem is. Their products really put a nice touch on an engine build.

March Pulley Problems

I had a similar problem and I believe I may have posted in here before on this problem. I'll do a search and see if I can find it.

The problem, as I recall is that the '69 Windsor had a passenger side inlet at the water pump and the crank pulley was a three bolt instead of a four bolt.

If you use a water pump that has a driver's side inlet the configuration of the bolts changes. I had purchased a March Pulley kit and couldn't use it. The tech at March said I had to order separate parts. But when I did the alternator bracket wouldn't line up correctly.

I eventually went back to the kit and I had to use cut down one of the spacers.

Tony - I am going to give march a call today.... will let you know..

I have a new fluidamper on it, so I have the 4 bolt damper already... so I think I need a spacer its exactly 5/8.

The bracket will need to be worked out I guess, lets see what they say, I am not against cutting these spacers up but I still don't see how the bracket will fit, the holes don't line up very good...

Spoke with March today, the fluidampr just requires a spacer which is a simple fix...

for those of you who have edelbrock heads and edelbrock water pump don't get the March alt bracket it will not work, they actually told me to use a stock bracket... Oh well, I guess I have a 351W alt bracket for sale... any takes, I paid $100 from Summit, anyone want it for $75 bucks + shipping? its brand new no scratches or anything.

thanks,
steve
