V8 Ranger swaps are extremely common...no real fitment problems. A 351W will fit as well. The Lightning motor makes for an interesting swap..

I have a 2000 Ranger and have considered such a swap for a while. I even asked a "What if...' on one of the Ranger sites about the feasability of using a complete T-bird drive train with IR but nobody replied. I guess us Cobra types are a little too radical for the Ranger crowd. One of my searches led me to a guy who sells Ranger swap manuals. I couldn't find the link but I think it was Harwood Performance. At any rate, good luck with your project.
