MSD Dist Question

I just installed a MSD Distrubutor on my 302. The strain relief on the pickup wires hits the intake. The strain relief has already broken at the bend. Will the wires stand the heat from the intake or is there another solution?

Index the disributor one tooth in the direction you need it to turn.
Mark the dist base for where the rotor is pointing. Remove dist partway, rotate one tooth, drop back in, re-align the rotor to base marks. Check timing. |
It kinda tried that when I installed it. The vacuum advance has me limited turning counter clockwise. Since the manifold is about the same height all the way across, it will take about 1/3 of a turn clockwise if the vacuum canister doesn't hit the thermostat housing. I'll try it and let you know.
